Ho seguito il consiglio del negoziante e ho “investito” ben € 4,75 nell’acquisto di questo bianco, quantunque di vendemmia 2007. Consiglio davvero apprezzabile, la bottiglia si propone ancora in gran forma… Come noto agli appassionati, il catarratto è vitigno antico, che dà i risultati migliori nella Sicilia Occidentale. Ed è proprio in provincia di Trapani che il gruppo veneto Montresor opera attraverso l’azienda vinicola I feudi di Sant’Eufemia, dedicated to the enhancement of autochthonous island.

Il Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 (Premium Line Reserva) è emblematico di un vitigno, frettolosamente e ingiustamente definito “ruffiano”, che oggi trova nel Nuovo Mondo le sue espressioni più paradigmatiche – lo consiglio anche in ottica “didattica” (oltre che epicurea…) a chi si avvicini al mondo del vino - . Il colore è rosso rubino intenso; al naso un’esplosione di frutti neri e rossi maturi – cassis, prugna, ciliegia… - , ma nella vendemmia 2009 si avvertono molto le note erbacee e verdi del cabernet (foglia di pomodoro), oltre ai sentori tostati e blandamente vanigliati senza invadenze da barrique. In bocca, infine, ecco eleganti tannini rotondi e ben domati in direzione del frutto. Un trionfo (alla giusta temperatura e nei giusti calici, previa eventuale decantazione) con piatti di carne rossa succulenta e d’agnello, ma si osino anche formaggi di struttura ben impegnativa in bocca.
